Why should you use BS EN 12350‑4- Degree of compactability for testing fresh concrete?

Concrete is a structural material consisting of a hard, chemically inert particulate substance, known as aggregate (usually sand and gravel), that is bonded together by cement and water.

BS EN 12350‑4 provides you with the procedure for determining the degree of compactability. When the compaction container is full of fresh concrete, the top surface is struck off level with the top of the compaction container. The concrete is compacted by vibration and the distance from the surface of the compacted concrete to the upper edge of the compaction container is used to determine the degree of compactability.
