BS EN 15534-4 is the fourth part of the BS EN 15534 multi-series that discusses wood-polymer composites (WPC) and natural fibre composites (NFC).
BS EN 15534-4 specifies the characteristics of decking profiles and tiles made from cellulose-based materials and thermoplastics, usually called wood-polymer composites (WPC) or natural fibre composites (NFC), for external use.
BS EN 15534-4 is applicable to extruded profiles but also to tiles manufactured by other plastics processing techniques, e.g., injection moulding.
Note: BS EN 15534-4 is not applicable to kits (i.e., support rail profiles, cover strip profiles and hardware).
BS EN 15534-4 on specifications for decking profiles and tiles is useful for:
Decking profiles and tiles are used for flooring and roofing. Decking tiles are used to enhance the aesthetic appeal of a house or the surroundings of the house. Because these products are artificially produced and endure various types of environmental conditions, they need to meet certain performance and production criteria.
BS EN 15534-4 provides physical and mechanical characteristics that need to be met during the designing phase of decking profiles and tiles. This helps in maintaining the structure and quality throughout the production process. BS EN 15534-4 provides test methods to determine the resistance and durability of decking profiles and tiles. This will help you verify decking profiles and tile’s resistance against fire, moisture and biological agents.
Overall, the guidelines of BS EN 15534-4 help you produce decking profiles and tiles with enhanced durability and thereby improving their quality.
BS EN 15534-4:2014 together with BS EN 15534-5:2014 supersedes CEN/TS 15534-3:2007.
