BS 8558:2011
Guide to the design, installation, testing and maintenance of services supplying water for domestic use within buildings and their curtilages. Complimentary guidance to BS EN 806.
What is BS 6700: 2006+A1:2009?
BS 6700 gives best-practice recommendations on the design, installation, alteration, testing and maintenance of cold-water and hot-water supply systems for domestic use within buildings. The standard covers pipe work systems, pipe fittings and connected appliances installed to supply any building, whether domestic or not, with water for drinking, culinary, domestic laundry, ablutionary, cleaning and sanitary purposes. BS 6700 only deals with low-temperature systems – so it excludes systems designed to work with steam or high temperature water.
BS 6700 first looks at all the relevant references, terms and definitions that apply to water supply systems. The standard then focuses on materials, such as copper, steels, leads, plastics and valves, before explaining all the factors that should be taken into account when designing these systems. It also takes and in-depth look at the installation and maintenance of cold-water and hot-water supply systems for domestic use within buildings.
BS 6700: 2006+A1:2009 replaces the 1997 version which is now withdrawn.
