European foreword

This document (EN 10348:2024) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 459 “ECISS - European Committee for Iron and Steel Standardization1”, the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2024, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by September 2024.

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.

This document supersedes EN 10348‑2:2018.

EN 10348:2024 has been mainly modified to provide for the inclusion in the scope of the standard products covered by prEN 10080:2023 (e.g. bars, welded fabrics and lattice girders) not subjected to further processing as a merging of EN 10348-2:2018 and prEN 10348-1 (part 1 not developed).

In particular, EN 10348:2024 includes the following significant technical changes with respect to EN 10348‑2:2018:

— update of the title and the scope;
— update of definition 3.1 “hot-dip galvanizing”;
— update of definition and numbering:
- — 3.2 “reinforcing steel products”,
- — 3.3 “galvanized reinforcing steel products”;
— update of Table 1 “List of symbols”;
— update of Table 3 “Specified minimum values of the mass of zinc per unit area and related coating thickness”;
— update of 10.1.1 “Test unit”.
