What is ISO 23325 about?

ISO 23325 discusses corrosion resistance of dental amalgam for dentistry. ISO 23325 outlines requirements for the permissible reduction in strength resulting from crevice corrosion of dental amalgam products that are within the scope of ISO 24234 or ISO 20749.

Why should you use ISO 23325?

Dental amalgam alloy is in fine particles, composed mainly of silver, tin, and copper. When mixed with dental mercury, produces a dental amalgam for dental restoration. Dental mercury is supplied for use in the preparation of dental amalgam.

ISO 23325 guideline provides information on sampling, requirements, preparation of the dental amalgam test-piece, test solution (artificial saliva), procedure for test-piece conditioning, and mechanical testing for corrosion resistance of dental amalgam. This helps accelerate the effect, such that results are obtained in a time suited to an in vitro test.
